Kenya-Poland e-Health Summit

Last week, the 1st Kenya-Poland e-Health Summit was held in Nairobi. Its goal was to share experiences and opinions regarding the implementation of telemedicine and e-health in the sector of medical care. It was organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Nairobi, the Polish Hospital Federation and eMedica Ltd, the distributor of Pregnabit in Kenya. Though e-health is still a novelty in Kenya’s medical care system, one can observe a great deal of commitment and initiative on the part of the authorities and the business environment. There is a potential for engaging collaboration with Polish companies that specialize in telemedicine and implement technologies in the healthcare sector, comments Ligia Kornowska, who attended the event and who is the Managing Director of the Polish Hospital Federation and the Head of the Telemonitoring Medical Centre that analyses the results of teleCTG tests. Considering the recent political initiatives in Kenya, it is a perfect time for Pregnabit. One of the priorities of the Big4 Agenda initiated by the President is healthcare and improved accessibility of medical services with the use of new technologies,, including telemedicine. Forecasts predict that the annual growth rate of the healthcare sector in Kenya will be 10.8%, reaching USD 3.1 billion in 2019. Pregnabit has been available in Kenya since December thanks to our partnership with eMedica Ltd., a Kenyan company offering a selection of telemedicine solutions supporting the healthcare system in Africa.
