Kenya-Poland e-Health Summit
Last week, the 1st Kenya-Poland e-Health Summit was held in Nairobi. Its goal was to share experiences and opinions regarding the implementation of telemedicine and e-health in the sector of medical care. It was organized by the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Nairobi, the Polish Hospital Federation and eMedica Ltd, the distributor of Pregnabit in Kenya. Though e-health is still a novelty in Kenya’s medical care system, one can observe a great deal of commitment and initiative on the part of the authorities and the business environment. There is a potential for engaging collaboration with Polish companies that specialize in telemedicine and implement technologies in the healthcare sector, comments Ligia Kornowska, who attended the event and who is the Managing Director of the Polish Hospital Federation and the Head of the Telemonitoring Medical Centre that analyses the results of teleCTG tests. Considering the recent political initiatives in Kenya, it is a perfect time for Pregnabit. One of the priorities of the Big4 Agenda initiated by the President is healthcare and improved accessibility of medical services with the use of new technologies,, including telemedicine. Forecasts predict that the annual growth rate of the healthcare sector in Kenya will be 10.8%, reaching USD 3.1 billion in 2019. Pregnabit has been available in Kenya since December thanks to our partnership with eMedica Ltd., a Kenyan company offering a selection of telemedicine solutions supporting the healthcare system in Africa.

Pregnabit’s presentation tour at international trade fairs continues
Last weekend, Nestmedic’s team presented the teleCTG solution at events in Poland and abroad. Thanks to the grant from the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), we had the opportunity to present Pregnabit at the International Medical Fair India in Mumbai as well as during the SALMED International Trade Fair in Poznań. In India, which is one of the most promising markets of medical equipment and technology in the world, our solution met with enthusiastic interest. During the event in Mumbai, we were asked about the possibility to use teleCTG by patients when visiting local medical centres as well as during the doctor’s home visits in locations far away from cities and medical facilities. The Indian market of medical devices has been estimated at approximately USD 8 billion and as such it is the target for the teleCTG implementation as part of our growth strategy. The figures speak for themselves: the healthcare expenditure in India exceeds USD 160 billion and it is predicted to reach USD 300 billion by 2020. Obviously, it will be necessary to develop a customised model of collaboration for such countries as India, but we are well-prepared for this. During the event at Mumbai we made numerous new contacts and commenced initial business talks which will be continued, says Patrycja Wizińska-Socha, CEO at Nestmedic. Our participation in the 27th edition of the 2018 SALMED International Trade Fair of Medical Equipment and Instruments was also a success. In Poznań, we had a great opportunity to present Pregnabit and exchange experiences as well as to meet specialists and representatives of the medical industry.

Pregnabit wins Focus’s 2017 Soczewka Award!
We are among the most innovative companies in Poland! The Focus magazine by votes of the readers and the jury granted the 2017 Soczewka Award to Pregnabit. Pregnabit outran several other technology projects from Poland and the contest jury justified the choice as follows: Nestmedic creates “technologies that can conquer the world”. The cardiotocography (CTG) test is sometimes necessary at the stage of advanced pregnancy to check if there are no threats to the baby. However, the future mother must visit a hospital to have that test. What if it was possible to perform CTG at home? Two innovators from Wrocław, Anna Skotny and Patrycja Wizińska-Socha, have developed Pregnabit, a device which makes it possible, explain Focus editors, adding that „in comparison to other winners in this edition of the contest, Pregnabit shows more solid business prospects”.
